Text: Best couple's costume this year. Both giveaways are live. Pick your favorite... or don't. Last chance!
Both vehicles, dressed up for Halloween. The witch hat and cat ears are costumes, not part of either prize.

Costume planning usually ends with two people and a shared theme. This year VanLife has a different idea for the pair: a teal-and-orange custom van and an orange VW Bus with a matching Vespa, with both giveaways open right now. The van's giveaway closes November 5. The Bus's closes November 12.

Contestant oneThe van that is already dressed

Start with the 1977 Chevrolet G20 custom van. Its paint dates from 2025 and runs teal with orange, plus custom graphics the giveaway page calls impossible to miss. Inside, the theme continues with orange, blue and green shag, teal carpet underfoot and diamond-stitched blue trim. If a vehicle can have a costume, this one commits all the way.

Contestant twoThe Bus and the Vespa that match

Now the other half of the pair. The Bus is a restored 1969 Volkswagen Type 2 with a custom orange repaint, chrome VW badging and round headlights. Beside it in the photos sits a Vespa, custom-painted orange to match. Under the Official Rules, one winner would receive the Bus, the Vespa, a travel bundle and a cash award. It is the couple's costume with a built-in sidekick.

Side by sideInside: a shag lounge or a camper layout

Inside the van, the giveaway page adds a remote-controlled LED lighting system to the shag. Inside the Bus, the listing describes a camper conversion with a rear living and camping area, fold-down sleeping accommodation and interior storage. One reads like a party. The other reads like a campsite.

Your turnFive ways to dress up a vehicle for Halloween

Whatever you drive today, a costume is easy to improvise. These are ideas to borrow, and none of the props are part of either prize.

  1. Hang a string of lights inside the windows.
  2. Cut paper bats and tape them to the glass so they peel off easily.
  3. Make removable ears or a witch hat for parked photos only, and take them off before you drive.
  4. Spread a themed blanket and a few pumpkins beside an open door for a picnic.
  5. Match your outfits to the paint so the couple and the vehicle read as one costume.
